POWERFUL PROCESSOR

THE MOST BASIC AUDIO CONTROLERS IN TODAYS COMPUTER SYSTEMS ARE VERY DIFFERENT FROM THOSE IN THE ORIGINAL SOUND CARDS FROM THE 1980S.  THEY STILL USE THE ANALOG CODES WITH A SIMPLE TWO CHANNEL ARRANGEMENT.

EDITORSOF AUDIO INFORMATION WHO AREEXPECTED TO PERFORM QUALITY WORK OFTEN REQUIRE SIX TO EIGHT CHANNELS OF AUDIO.  MANY OF TODAYS MOTHERBOARD COME EQUIPED WITH  5.1 AND 7.1 ANALOG AUDIO.

SPECIALIZED HARD DRIVES

FIRST IT MUST BE UNDERSTOOD THAT IF YOU ARE WORKING WITH LARGE AMOUNTS OF DIGITAL INFORMATION, YOUR HARD DRIVE MUST BE RATED A/V.  THIS MEANS THAT THE DRIVE IS SUITED SPEICIFCALLY FOR AUDIO AND VIDEO.  WHILE THERE IS CURRENTLY NO INDUSTRY STANDARD FOR WHAT CONSTITUTES AN A/V RATED DRIVE, IN SHORT  IT IS LARGELY HAVE TO DO WITH HOW QUICKLY THE DRIVE CAN KEEP UP WITH THE DATA TRANSFER RATE OF THE SOFTWARE YUOURE RUNNING.

 

SIMPLY STATED, IF YOUR HARD DRIVE IS SLOWER THAN YOUR PROGRAM IT IS LIKELY YOU DON’T HAVE AN A/V RATED HARD DRIVE.  SECONDLY, IT S IMPORTANT TO HAVE A HARD DRIVE WITH MULTIPLE INTERFACES. FIREWIRE MUST BE ONE OF THEM BECAUSE FIREWIRE IS A FAST CONNECTION.  HAVING MULTIPLE INTERFACES IS CONVENIENT WHEN YOU ARE MOVING AROUND A LOT, AS NOT ALL COMPUTERS WILL HAVE THE EXACT SAME PORTS.
